I completely disapprove of the name ‘fatkini.’ Don’t get me wrong, I think they’re pretty dang cute, and if people want to wear them and feel comfortable in them, go for it! But the fact that they’re being labeled as ‘fatkini’s’ because plus-sized women are wearing them completely disgusts me. This is why girls feel self-conscious about their weight. We are labeling things with the word ‘fat’ in them when it comes to larger women. As someone who is extremely self-conscious about their weight, I literally hate this and the fact that it’s becoming a big thing. If I want to wear a swimsuit (which is less than 1% of the time) it will be a normal bikini, not something that is referred to as a fatkini.
